The music industry has been in some level of hysterics for the past decade over internet filesharing. This is not news. You know about it because major industry players have told you about it, buying ad time to force ads on you about how Filesharing Is Stealing And You Are A Criminal. You know because [...]
The Everyday Visuals are preparing for the release of their third self-titled album on April 14th. If you like bands such as Radiohead, Wilco, R.E.M., Crosby, Nash, Stills & Young and Fleet Foxes, you will love this band. They play around in Portland once in a while, and they’re aiming to come back sometime in [...]

Thom Yorke has decided to take a very passive-aggressive approach to the negative press he has been getting due to snubbing Kanye West and Miley Cyrus at the Grammy Awards. How else could the artistic genius have responded besides a snide one-liner on his blog? At the bottom of a post about music and a [...]
In a radio interview a week ago, Miley Cyrus ranted about how hurt she was that she couldn’t meet Radiohead backstage at the Grammys. A week before that, RollingStone.com reported that portions of Kanye West’s “Storytellers” show on VH1 were edited to omit him dissing Radiohead for ignoring him. Now, as an avid reader of [...]

Back in August last year, me and the band went to see Radiohead at the Tweeter Comcast Center. Awe-inspiring show. Radiohead put on an unforgettable set with songs like “Exit Music (For a Film)”, “The National Anthem”, “There There” and “Nude”. They are top-grade performances with a modern rock legacy, so how did they prepare [...]

Plenty of deserving artists win, but just as many undeserving acts get handed a golden gramophone. In this first installment of my new column, I’ll look at some of [...]

When I first read that Franz Ferdinand were soon to be putting out their third album, I was filled with a cautious anticipation. This was mainly because I thought it would most likely be the album that shows the eventual trajectory of FF—will they turn into a diverse, interesting rock band, creating really new, interesting music, or retreat to the path of least resistance, relying on their catchy dance-pop singles to pull them through? As a general pessimist, I (unfortunately) tend to just assume that most bands will take the latter route, and so I don’t get my expectations very high. With FF, though, I can’t help but hold out hope.
